Luke Gray is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who is fluent in many genres including jazz, rock, country, Celtic and classical. His classical violin playing has brought him into contact with dozens of professional musicians including Itzhak Perlman, Ricardo Cyncynates, Elizabeth Pitcairn, Laura Kobayashi, Alexander Kordzaia, Anthony Maiello and Neil Casey to name just a few. His bass playing has given him the opportunity to play for such musicians as Eric Merienthal, Mike Steinel, Glenn Dewey, Barry Green, Wade Beach, Richard Parrell and James Carroll. Luke has been involved in various orchestras and bands over the years including the UMW Philharmonic, Rappahannock POPS, Christina Youth Theatre, Spotswood Community Orchestra, Winchester Philharmonic, GMU symphony, Virginia Medical Musical, All-State orchestra and jazz band, Fredericksburg Big Band and Riverside Dinner Theatre to name just a few. Luke also plays the Chapman Stick and hopes to expose the world to its sonorous and blissful sounds. He has already played with two masters of the Stick, Greg Howard and Rob Martino. Luke hopes to expand the horizon of musical possibilities to his students in their own fields as well as introduce them to a variety of musical styles.
